Already receiving rave reviews online, many of which hail it
as an iPhone beater, the Samsung Galaxy S has some seriously impressive
features at its disposal.

Boasting the versatility of the Android OS v2.1 backed up
by a 1 GHz processor, this touchscreen smartphone is the epitome of what is
available to consumers when choosing a new smartphone.

A major part of the appeal of the Samsung Galaxy S is its
large 4 inch touchscreen, which utilises super AMOLED touchscreen technology,
displaying up to 16M colours within a pixel resolution of 480x 800 resulting in
superb quality and clarity of image display, making it perfect for viewing
photos and video files. The screen also includes accelerometer and proximity
sensors, Swype test input, touchsensitive controls and the TouchWiz UI.

Measuring 122.4x 64.2 and only 11.8mm thick, it is a
slimline handset which is also very lightweight at just 119 grams, which is
impressive given its long spec list. The Samsung Galaxy S utilises both
vibration and ringing to alert users to incoming calls and messages, with the
added bonus of being able to assign MP3 and WAV files as ringtones. Handsfree
communication is achieved by way of an easy to use speakerphone system and a
3.5mm headset jack.

Either 8 GB or 16 GB of internal storage is provided as
standard, depending on which model is chosen. An additional 32 GB can be made
available by installing an appropriate memory card within the micro SD card
slot. This can potentially result in up to 48 GB of storage being available,
which is sure to cater to the needs of 99.9 of users.

Browsing the internet is a breeze with the Samsung Galaxy S.
An HSDPA connection provides the initial method of internet access, thanks to
3G coverage which can provide download speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps. A faster
connection is also available whenever local wireless internet networks are
available. Class 12 GPRS and EDGE allows the handset to connect to cellular
networks, whilst micro USB and Bluetooth connectivity allows users to connect
to compatible hardware devices.

The Samsung Galaxy S boasts the capability to record video
at 720p HD thanks to the powerful 5 megapixel digital camera. This also takes
high quality still images with the minimum of effort and incorporates a number
of image enhancing features which include autofocus, touch focus, face
smile detection, and geotagging. The latter records the location at which a
photo was taken, based on GPS.

The Android OS and 1 GHz processor means the Samsung Galaxy
S is just about as versatile and powerful as a modern smartphone can be. The
long list of additional features and access to the Android Market means that
this impressive handset has almost unlimited options in terms of customisation
and functionality.
